macOS · 4 features 2 improvements 3 fixes

We're excited to be launching Camo 1.8 today which brings support for 60 fps video and adjustable frame rate controls, along with "Smart Zoom", video stabilisation, and improved colour and brightness adjustments.

If you run into any problems, please reach out to us at support@reincubate.com. We'd love to help and hear from you.

  • *Feature: Frame-rate controls have long been one of our most popular feature requests, and now they’re here! Camo now lets users choose from a range of frame-rates between 15 and 60 fps, making it easy for streamers to match their camera frame rate with the stream.
  • Feature We've added Smart Zoom, which lets you take advantage of your iPhone's 4K sensors regardless of which resolution you're using. Camo now avoids using digital zoom wherever possible, and instead rely on a higher resolution source image from the camera’s sensor, mimicking lossless optical zoom. Smart Zoom can be enabled in Camo Studio’s Preferences dialog, under the General tab.
  • Feature Virtual rotation gives you the ability to choose between landscape and portrait video without having to physically rotate your phone. This makes use of the "Smart Zoom" feature to ensure the video is perfectly crisp.
  • Feature Camo's new image stabilisation functionality minimises the effect of vibrations and other disturbances on the image, great for desk mounted devices, wobbly mounts, or heavy-handed typists.
  • Feature We've added a vibrancy control, which gives you a way to boost or dampen duller colours in a way that’s less heavy-handed and artificial than using the saturation control.
  • Improvement The brightness control has now been completely re-worked to give you finer grained control and make you look less washed out when increasing brightness.
  • Improvement It's now easier to remove the current overlay -- you can now disable an overlay simply by clicking on it.
  • Fix We've fixed a bug which meant that Camo Studio would sometimes prevent your Mac from sleeping.
  • Fix We've fixed a bug which caused issues with Camo Studio’s audio output when your phone isn't connected.
  • Fix We've fixed a bug which meant that Camo Studio could occasionally think a licence had expired shortly before it was due to renew.

Today’s release focuses on improving the experience using Camo Studio with an external microphone, particularly professional mono microphones. We’ve also improved compatibility with the latest beta of macOS Ventura, and fixed a bug involving overlays.

If you run into any problems, please reach out to us at support@reincubate.com. We'd love to help and hear from you.

  • Fix New users who are lucky enough to be running the beta of macOS Ventura will now be sent to the correct part of the new macOS Settings application when giving Camo Studio the permissions it needs to send video to other apps.
  • Fix We’ve fixed an issue which caused issues when changing an image in an overlay.
  • Fix Ever spotted an item in Camo Studio’s menu called “Connection Suggestions” and wondered what it meant? Well, you’re not the only one, this has now been renamed to “Notifications”.
