Release notes and changelogs for Camo

Camo 1.0.5.60 released

macOS iOS · 2 improvements 1 fix

Another day, another Camo Studio update. This update is preparing us for an update to the iOS app that's coming soon. It also updates compatibility information for 10 apps.

If you run into any problems, please reach out to us at support@reincubate.com. We'd love to help and hear from you.

  • Improvement Camo Studio is now much clearer about what to do if you connect an iOS device running a version of Camo that's too old or too new.
  • Improvement We've added compatibility information for Camtasia, Flipgrid, Stream.club, Tuple, Zoho Meeting, Jio Meet, Meet Butter, and Macro. We support most of these — if you use one we don't support, please reach out to them!
  • Fix We've noted QuickTime in Big Sur's latest beta doesn't support Camo Studio. We're working on this. We've also dropped compatibility with Skype for Business. We can't make it work consistently for enough users yet.

Camo 1.0.4.56 released

macOS · 1 improvement 2 fixes

We're starting the week with an update to address a problem with disconnects that some users have run into. Please let us know if you experience any problems. We're going to be shipping a number of additional updates later this week.

If you run into any problems, please reach out to us at support@reincubate.com. We'd love to help and hear from you.

  • Improvement We renamed Exposure duration to Shutter speed. Thanks, experts! (ISO will be coming back soon.)
  • Fix When Camo Studio wasn't in the foreground, macOS would sometimes put it to sleep. This made disconnects more likely to occur.
  • Fix We've made the resolution default to 720p for new, unlicensed users.

Camo 1.0.3.55 released

macOS · 1 fix

This Camo Studio update is a fix to resolve problems we've seen in macOS 10.13.6.

If you've already got Camo Studio, please update it using the "Check for Updates..." option in the main menu. If you don't already have it, you should already have an email from us with a download link. (Check your spam.)

  • Fix We've bundled some missing libraries that were causing problems in 10.13.6. Sorry! We'd tested this before, and then we broke it.

  • Fix We've temporarily disabled ISO controls and presents. We're going to resolve problems with these and ship updates to them shortly.

Camo 1.0.1.51 released

macOS · 3 features 7 improvements 3 fixes

Today's beta for Camo includes a number of tweaks as we approach launch day. We're not quite there with presets, but we're going to follow up with them soon.

If you've already got Camo Studio, please update it using the "Check for Updates..." option in the main menu. If you don't already have it, you should already have an email from us with a download link. (Check your spam.)

  • Feature We've totally reworked auto-focus. It was driving us crazy. It was driving you crazy. Now we think it's kinda cool. What do you think? You can let the phone figure it out. Or you can focus on a point. Or you can manually control focus.
  • Feature Licensing is now enabled — you must activate Camo to get to the Pro features.
  • Feature We now automatically load Camo Studio when you try to use the camera, so you don't need to run it in advance. Thoughts?
  • Improvement We've disabled logging by default. This means there's less for your phone to do. If you run into problem, you can enable logging using your iPhone or iPad's Settings menu.
  • Improvement We've added proper automated error reporting to Camo. This'll make it easier for us to diagnose problems from afar.
  • Improvement We've added some notes on Firefox compatibility. It can't handle switching away from 1080p. Guess they like it.
  • Improvement Added integration for Amazon Chime, Screen.so.
  • Improvement Added compatibility note for mmhmm. We support it.
  • Improvement A competitor joined our beta, copied a unique ID we put in Camo, and put it in their app. Meaning that if you had both installed at the same time, neither would work. We've changed it so this won't happen in future. Unless they copy us again.
  • Improvement We've updated the acknowledgements. We'll be putting translators here soon!
  • Fix Overlay corruption issue is fixed. You should see no more wonky graphics when paused.
  • Fix Recording with ScreenFlow and QuickTime Player is fixed. Sorry about that.
  • Fix Reconnecting a paused device to Camo now shows a nice message, not a throbber.

Camo 1.0.1.48 released

macOS · 2 fixes

It's time for another Camo update. This one's just for iOS. We've fixed a crash caused by extreme ISO settings, and we've stopped the temperature and tint sliders from doing the Wrong Thing™.

  • Fix Setting extreme ISO settings before switching lenses no longer crashes Camo on iOS.
  • Fix Temperature and tint no longer just make you green. Some people like being green, if you do, setting the hue to 103° is still an option.

Camo 1.0.1.47 released

macOS · 2 features 1 improvement 1 fix

Well, that was quick: the ninth public beta of Camo. We've fixed a crash caused by lots of fiddling with the image sliders.

If you've already got Camo Studio, please update it using the "Check for Updates..." option in the main menu. If you don't already have it, you should already have an email from us with a download link. (Check your spam.)

  • Feature If you bought Camo Pro in the pre-sale, you can now disable the watermark. (And thank you!)
  • Feature Rotation support. It took us long enough. Sorry! (Though don't forget, you can get this natively if you turn off "orientation lock".)
  • Improvement We've made the orientation rotation slightly more graceful.
  • Fix We've fixed a crash caused by extreme ranges in the tint and temperature sliders.

Camo 1.0.1.46 released

macOS · 5 features 6 improvements 3 fixes

It's time for the eighth public beta of Camo, and an important milestone: this build is pretty much feature-complete. We've got lots to polish, and a handful of bugs, but we're getting there.

If you've already got Camo Studio, please update it using the "Check for Updates..." option in the main menu. If you don't already have it, you should already have an email from us with a download link. (Check your spam.)

We've not shipped an automated integration with Cisco WebEx Meetings yet. If you can help connect us to the WebEx team that'd be very helpful.

  • Feature Add brightness, saturation, hue, exposure duration, gamma sliders. Oh, and they show you what the phone does automatically, too.

  • Feature We've added the licensing UI. It works.
  • Improvement We don't dumbly let you click "Install Integration" if it's already been done.

  • Fix We've change the FPS dropdown to a label.

  • Improvement In-app links now match accent colour on macOS; you'll spot a number of other interface fixes.
  • Fix We've totally rewritten the connection between iOS and macOS and how settings are handled. We're keen to know if it addresses any connectivity problems you had before.
  • Fix We've resolved a number of camera orientation bugs. If you find more, please let us know!
