How to fix your BlackBerry after water damage

Steps to recover a water damaged BlackBerry

Have you accidentally spilt a drink over your BlackBerry or your phone has fallen in the bath, pool or even toilet? Don't worry you can still save your device, here are a few steps that might help you to save your BlackBerry.

Phone warranties don't cover water damage, so unless you've got separate insurance coverage, it is unlikely to be replaced.

Only do this if you think you are capable of disassembly and reassembly of your BlackBerry device: these instructions if carried are at your own risk.

If you're unable to repair the device and it remains dead, you can still use BlackBerry Backup Extractor to recover your phone's data from its last backup:

  • Download BlackBerry Backup Extractor
  • Search for locally created IPD or BBB backups on your PC or Mac
  • Recover your data using BlackBerry Backup Extractor's easy interface
  • Import the recovered data, like contacts, email and calendars to your new phone
